Textbook of Inorganic Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry in its 11th edition has been meticulously revised in a way that highlights the importance of the role of pharmacy education controlling authorities in India devising study materials that would give them parity with all the courses including the newly introduced Pharm. D. course. The individual chapters are based on my well-known original uniformly designed principles of monographs – like presentation, keeping together drugs1 groups with similar therapeutic activities. Actions of drugs on the organism as also actions of organism on the drug (e.g. biotransformation) are – to the extent chemical contemplation is accessible – part of the biochemically oriented pharmaceutical chemistry. The regularly recurring sections of the book refer particularly to structure of drugs, preparation/synthesis, properties, pharmacology, biotransformation, purity tests, analysis, uses, etc. The book is meant for students of all courses in pharmacy and for the interested chemists and medical students. It will further serve the practising hospital pharmacists for continuing education and as a reference book for working pharmacists including those connected with the industry especially the ones engaged in analytical work.
