Thus completing his formal education in India, he proceeded to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, USA with a fellowship from the same university and did his PhD in 1970 majoring in Animal Nutrition and minoring in Physiology and Biochemistry. Dr. Banerjee has been associated with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the University of Kalyani and the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (Agricultural University) for nearly three decades. He worked as Dean. Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences for about two years and as Dean, Postgraduate studies for about a decade. He has to his credit over 100 scientific papers published in reputed journals in India and abroad. He retired from his long teaching career in 1996. He is also the author of Textbook of Animal Husbandry, a book for undergraduate students and also for all progressive farmers of the country. Feeds and Principles of Animal Nutrition is his other Significant contribution. Prof. Banerjee had been appointed as examiners of MVSc and PhD candidates by over 15 universities of the country. For over a decade he had also been closely associated with national level committees and examinations.
