The book aims at primarily medical students, interns, residents, physiotherapists, and medical officers associated with accident and emergency and trauma and orthopedics. It focuses on fundamental principles of physical treatment relative to pathology, and medical and surgical techniques employed. It highlights the role of physiotherapy management of the orthopedic trauma and elective orthopedic cases, and will also be useful for medical practitioners in their day-to-day practice. Textbook of Orthopedic Physiotherapy has been written primarily for medical students, recently qualified physiotherapists, and medical officers, especially those associated with the departments of accident and emergency and trauma and orthopedics. The book focuses on fundamental principles of physical treatment relative to pathology, and medical and surgical techniques employed. This textbook has been designed to enable the reader to identify patient s ailments by applying knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and behavioural science, and successfully solving or alleviating these problems. An attempt has been made to mention trauma emergencies in the traumatic section and other orthopedic problems in the elective orthopedic section. Special mention has been made about role of physiotherapy management of the orthopedic trauma and elective orthopedic cases. This book, though essentially meant for students, will also be useful for medical practitioners in their day-to-day practice.
